This dark skin discoloration, normally found on sun-exposed areas of the face is a very common skin disorder for women. Melasma is often correlated with female hormones like estrogen and progesterone, and therefore, Melasma is commonly seen in women who are taking oral contraceptives or hormone replacement therapies. Melasma is especially common in pregnant women, and it is also known as, “The Mask of Pregnancy”.
