Kybella (Deoxycholic acid) is a cosmetic injectable for adults that is used to improve the appearance and profile of moderate to severe fat below the chin (submental fat). This injectable is made of a naturally-occurring molecule in the human body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. Kybella causes fat cell destruction at the location of injection and once those cells are damaged, they are unable to store or accumulate additional fat. Kybella is a non-invasive, non-surgical treatment that does not require extensive downtime. It is administered through simple injections. No downtime. Mild temporary tenderness, swelling, pain, or bruising at the injection sites are normal and typically resolve within 1 to 2 weeks after injection. As with any injection, a possible risk of infection exists. However, with proper home care after your treatment session, this risk is significantly diminished.
